Water and Sanitation: Big Problem in Nepal

“Water is life and Sanitation is Dignity”, it can be assumed as a universal truth. These two issues always come together as these are correlated. In the case of poor sanitation, water bodies may also get polluted and water, which is certainly life, can cause death, too. In the aspect, proper sanitation is not only dignity but also life for all.

But large number of people suffers from various diseases every year. Each year 1.8 million children die from diarrhea and 50% of all people in developing countries suffers from a health problem caused by the lack of water and sanitation unveiled the UN Human Development Report 2006.

In Nepal, around 13000 children die due to water borne diseases. Unfortunately, the issues on water and sanitation have never been address properly, neither in the past nor in present. But if it is not addressed for the future and kept on neglecting, it would be disasterous in coming future.
